Valletta Contemporary Presents Cumulus Art Exhibition: Second Installment September 4 – November 23, 2024 Valletta Contemporary, in collaboration with the Norbert Francis Attard Foundation, is unveiling the Fall installment of the Cumulus Art Exhibition. Running from September 4 to November 23, the exhibition will feature works by 29 prominent international artists including Gilbert & George, Ai Weiwei, and Tracey Emin. Curated by Norbert Francis Attard, the collection reflects his evolving taste and showcases pieces collected over decades. Valletta Contemporary is open Wednesday to Saturday, 2 pm to 7 pm, with free entry. Notte Bianca October 5, 2024 Notte Bianca is one of Malta’s largest annual arts and culture festivals. On the first Saturday of October, Valletta transforms into a vibrant celebration of the arts with museums, piazzas, state palaces, and churches hosting live performances and concerts. Restaurants and cafés extend their hours to accommodate festival-goers. BirguFest October 11 – 12, 2024 Birgufest, held in Birgu (Vittoriosa), one of Malta’s “Three Cities,” features “Birgu by Candlelight,” where the city’s streets are illuminated solely by candles. The festival includes concerts in churches, discounted museum entries, exhibitions, a short film festival, and a lively artisan market. The Three Palaces Festival October 30 – November 3, 2024 This year’s Three Palaces Festival, organized by Festivals Malta, celebrates the 700th anniversary of Marco Polo and features Antonio Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons” along with its influence on composers like Max Richter and Piazzolla. Performances will take place in historic venues such as the Grand Master’s Palace and St John’s Co-Cathedral, with educational workshops and art exhibitions themed around The Silk Road. Valletta Early Opera Festival November 8 & 9, 2024 The Valletta Early Opera Festival presents Mozart’s lesser-known opera *Il Re Pastore*. Performed at Teatru Manoel, Europe’s oldest functioning theater, the production features Federico Fiorio, Catherine Trottman, Claire Debono, Nico Darmanin, and Raffaele Giordani, with musical direction by Giulio Prandi and direction by Tommaso Franchin. Levant Gozo Music Festival September 13, 2024 Experience an unforgettable night with Tribali at the Levant Gozo Music Festival. Opera in Gozo October 12 & 24, 2024 Gozo’s popular fall opera season features Giuseppe Verdi’s *Giovanna d’Arco* at Astra Theatre and Giacomo Puccini’s *Il Trittico* at Aurora Theatre, offering a rich and immersive cultural experience. All Saints Day November 2, 2024 On All Saints Day, churches across Gozo will be adorned with stunning candlelight displays. The Cultural Heritage Directorate and the Gozo Diocese host illuminations outside every Gozitan parish church. This day commemorates saints and offers prayers for departed souls. Rock Astra November 24, 2024 The Rock Astra festival will feature a dynamic performance by the La Stella Philharmonic Band at Teatru Astra’s auditorium.
